We're Seeking Nominations for the 2nd Annual West Quebecers Community Awards

It’s hard
to believe it is already the middle of February and spring is on the way! For my
four year old son, winter is passing slowly as he looks forward to being able to
ride his bicycle once again, but for us adults, time seems to be flying by.
That is especially true here at the West Quebecers’ office where we are busy
planning events and activities for 2005, including our Second Annual Community
Awards Banquet. It will be held Friday June 10th at Camp Fortune with the goal
of highlighting outstanding contributions made in the English-speaking community
of West Quebec.
After years of offering the J.D. Coulson Award for Outstanding Achievement,
we expanded the awards into a full fledged banquet because there were so many
deserving volunteers. Last year we launched our first annual banquet where we
offered eight awards to a very impressive group of volunteers and community
associations whose time and dedicated service have made life here in West Quebec
so much richer.
Given the wealth of volunteers in our region, it was difficult to choose a
winner in each category, which is certain to be the case again this year.
Do you know someone who has
volunteered time and energy toward improving their community? Have you met a
person who has made a difference in
West Quebec?
We hope you will help us
find those often nameless people in your community who log in countless hours of
invaluable effort behind the scenes, sometimes for years, without payment or
recognition, for one reason; they care. All you have to do is send us the name
of the person or community association you want to nominate before March 31st.
Nominees must have once lived or studied in the Outaouais, irrespective of where
they currently reside. The awards may also be given posthumously. Individuals,
couples or groups may be nominated.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to nominate a volunteer you think should
be honored. We want them to know they are appreciated. And let us know if you
