New Residents Program
By Linda Sparks

Spring has sprung and with that a flurry of activities within the New Residents Program. This program is an initiative put in place by the West Quebecers with funding from Heritage Canada, to reach out to new English speaking residents moving to the Outaouais region. The New Residents package includes information from provincial and municipal governments, education and health organizations as well as cultural and community groups.

The information package, in its trial stage, will be sent out in mid-May to over 40 new residents who have visited, phoned or e-mailed our office about the package and/or requested other vital information. Distribution of the package to the urban core will commence in mid-June. Phase 2 for the rural areas will begin in early fall.

Feedback from the community at large has been great! Community-minded citizens, who sit on our volunteer committee for the New Residents Program, assisted in supporting this exciting program along with many other folks, organizations and businesses.

People are always on the move, so if you know of a new resident to the Outaouais, please contact the New Residents Program Coordinator at (819) 682-9602 or toll free 1-877-733-0177. You can also send an e-mail to wq@magma.ca or drop by the office at 53 Principale Street in Aylmer. We always look forward meeting our members and visitors.
