September 29 and 30.  2007 Pontiac Church Tour, Concerts and Art Exhibitions During this weekend,  more than 30 churches in the Pontiac, representing francophone and Anglophone congregations of various denominations, will hold their second annual open house.  The event will also include four concerts (times, places and themes are listed below).   In addition, the Pontiac Artists’ Association (PAA) and the Pontiac School of the Arts (PSA) have  this year organized their annual Dam Art and Art in the Park exhibitions to form part of the weekend program of events (details are given below).  The whole series of events is the result of support provided by the Québec Ministry of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women to the MRC Pontiac, working in collaboration with the CLD Pontiac and the Pontiac Artists’  Association.

September 29. Organ recital by Carole Romain.  The French Masters.

Marcil Melo - Artist  until July 29. Parkdale Gallery. As part of an exhibition entitled “New Canadians”. Mr Melo will be in the gallery on Sunday afternoon, July 15, 2007 between 1 and 4 pm. July 7-15.  The 2007 session of the Pontiac School of the Arts (PSOTA) will be held in the Old Stone School on Mill Street in Portage-du-Fort.  Courses include: Introduction to Relief Printing -- Drawing for Beginners -- Photography Made Easy -- Adult Artists’ Workshop Series -- Becoming a Freelance Writer, Digital Images -- Young Artists’ Workshop Series (age 8-14) -- Introduction to Handmade Paper -- Embossing Handmade Paper -- Experience, Environment and Expression (multimedia)* -- Painting on Silk -- Cartoons and Caricature Introduction to Nature Writing* -- Introduction to Painting (oil and acrylic) -- Stained Glass -- Introduction to Handmade Books.   Courses marked with * are available in both English and French;  the remaining courses are given in English.Course hours: 9.00 am. to 4.00 pm. with one hour for lunch. This year the School is initiating a scholarship program for children and teenagers in the community.  All donations to this program will be used to send local youngsters to one or more days of courses during the 2007 summer session.
