November 17.  Vernissage of new exhibition by Christine Granger.  At 7.00 pm. at Galerie McKenzie Marcotte, 26 Sully Road, Wakefield.  The exhibition will continue until January 7, 2007

Christine Granger is an internationally acclaimed iconographer and artist. Her icons can be found in many private and public collections,including the Canadian Museum of Civilization.  The icons in this exhibition are the original paintings used to illustrate Christine Granger’s book “Mother and Child” which has just been released by Novalis Press. To celebrate the release of the book, Galerie McKenzie Marcotte will be hosting a reception in the gallery, Sunday December 3 from 2.00 to 4.00 pm. The artist will be there to sign books and to meet visitors to the exhibition.Galerie McKenzie Marcotte is open weekends from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm and at all

November 20.  Meeting of the Gatineau Valley Historical Society.  Long-time member Doug Cowden will give a talk entitled Reminiscences of Growing Up in the Meech Creek Valley.At 7.30 pm., at Chelsea Community Centre.

November 24 and 25.  Ricky Paquette, a young guitarist from this region, with a passion for blues and rock, will perform in La Basoche, at the Centre Culturel du Vieux-Aylmer, 120 Principale.  Both performances are  sold out.  Ricky Paquette has previously performed at the Festiblues in Montreal, at the International Blues Festival at Mont Tremblant, and at the grand Medley.  Last February he gave a highly successful show at the Salle Jean-Despréz in Gatineau, where he sang, among other pieces, his own compositions School Boy Blues and I’m a Fool.  These songs, and eight others by well-known songwriters, are on his CD entitled Early to the Show. The  scheduled performances form part of the series at La Basoche entitled Gueules de blues. For information call 819-685-5033.

Gifts From the Gatineau Nov. 25 & 26, Great gift ideas can be found at this year’s Gifts From the Gatineau!   at the Larrimac Golf Club, 1148 Highway 105 in Chelsea, Quebec, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm both days.   Meet 12 local artists and craftspeople showing work in glass, textiles, paintings, photography, pottery, and jewelry.  This gem of a show is recognized for its intimate setting and welcoming atmosphere.We are pleased to welcome four new artists: Heather MacDonald, who creates mixed media sculpture; MaryAnne Caibaiosai, an Ojibway artist whose portraits, drawings and watercolors depict elders and historical figures; Pauline Myre, who specializes in photographs of flowers; and Lee Hutchinson, who makes unique pottery for home and garden.  Admission and parking are free.  Light snacks are available at the Club.
