EVENTS OF GENERAL INTEREST
TO THE REGION

Local poet wins a prize.
In the week of April 12-18 the Poetic Licence Contest for Canadian Youth was held under the sponsorship of the League of Canadian Poets.  This coincided with Young Poets' Week.  The first prize for Quebec was awarded to Zoe Dickinson, a resident of Aylmer who will be graduating from Canterbury High School, Ottawa, in June of this year.  Ms. Dickinson's poem is entitled "Haley" and can be viewed at www.youngpoets.ca/ezine/current/main_en.php

The author has other poems which she hopes to publish eventually.

"Expression"  Exhibition including prints by Pontiac artist Sarah Marshall at the Bruyère Gallery,
75 Bruyère St. Ottawa. 
The exhibition
runs to May 28.
 

June 10. LONER & The Healing Concert at Emergenza Festival Ottawa Final.
Aylmer-based band will compete against 13 other bands from Ottawa and Gatineau.
6pm Doors Open @ Capitol Music Hall at 200 Rideau St. Ottawa. Concert sometime between 7 - 8:30 pm. ALL AGES SECTION! Tickets are $18 through the band.

June 11.  Vernissage exhibiting works by John Tenasco, Algonquin artist from the

The exhibition runs to June 26.

June 20 - August 13.  Exhibition of photographs by Brenda-Lee Wilson. Foyer du Théâtre de l'Île, 1 Wellington, Gatineau.  Opening hours: Monday to Friday, noon to 8:00 pm.  Formal opening: Sunday, June 20, 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  Free admission.
