28. Book reading at the Wakefield Library.
Former Aylmer resident Mary Jane Maffini will read from her
murder mystery Lament for a Lounge Lizard, a story
set in a tiny riverside Quebec tourist town (she insists it
is not Wakefield). At 2 pm.
Admission
is
free.
June 5. Book Launch and Chelsea Cemetery Tour.
The Mayor and Council of Chelsea will hold ann inauguration
ceremony at the Old Chelsea Protestant Burial Ground at 11:30
pm in connection with Chelsea’s 130th Anniversary
Community Days Festival. The ceremony will be followed by
a book signing: Carol Martin will be
launching her book In Memory of
Chelsea’s Historic Cemeteries.
Ms. Martin will conduct two cemetery tours, at 12:15
and 1 pm.

Recently
published: "Pierre: Colleagues and Friends Talk about the
Trudeau They Knew".
This collection of pieces about the former Prime Minister,
edited by Nancy Southam, includes five contributions by
Chelsea residents, all centring on canoeing, an activity
Trudeau greatly loved.
The writers are: Joyce Mason and her grown-up children Becky
and Paul, Wally Schaber and Jean-Paul Murray.
The book is published by McLelland & Stewart Ltd., and is
available in all bookstores.

June 11. The Gatineau Valley Historical Society announces
that Bobby Watt, master stonemason residing in La Pêche,
will conduct a tour of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa.
Bobby Watt’s team of stonemasons has been involved in the
restoration of the Centre Block and in the current Library
of Parliament project.
Car pools leave Wakefield Library at

and Chelsea Elementary School at

am. Group meets Bobby Watt at the Centennial Flame on
Parliament Hill for walking tour.
