Until August 10 Geraldine Classen, from Portage du Fort, is holding her exhibition "Abandoned in the Pontiac" at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Hull.  Her paintings, into which she incorporates old photographs, depict empty, unused buildings, and reveal a style different from that of earlier work in which she was inspired by her time in Mexico.Geraldine Classen is a participant in the Pontiac Artists' Studio Tour and a member of the Board of the Pontiac School of the Arts (PSOTA).  See the entries in this Bulletin regarding these two events

Protection of heritage: the Wright-Scott house. Gatineau City Council has "reserved" housing development proposed for this property for at least two years, during which time various options will be explored.  The chair of the City's Arts, Culture, Heritage and Literature Commission, Councillor Louise Poirier, commented: "This will allow us to have a clear debate on the fate of the property, the last trace of what was the home of Philemon Wright, the founder of Hull".  She indicated that the City could go as far as purchasing the property, evaluated by the City at just over $700,000, if there was enough citizen support.
