Peter Frood, Director of Parks Canada’s Historic Places Initiative,
will speak on how communities in the
Gatineau Valley can value, enjoy and conserve our local
historic places. Entertainment by Bobby Watt, local
traditional musician, stonemason and police pipe band
member.
This year’s dinner is in support of the Musée
Fairbairn Museum, a community project of the Society aimed at developing a quality
bilingual museum focusing on the human and natural
heritage of the Gatineau Valley and using the original
home of William Fairbairn, a founder of Wakefield and
builder of the first grist mill on the La Pêche River in

in July, August and December) Ron Moores and the Back 40
Band host the Back 40 Stage at Rasputins. The musicians
of Back 40 come from both
Quebec and Ontario. Ron Moores resides
in Cantley. In the 2005-2006 Central Canadian
Bluegrass Awards Contest he
was named DJ of the Year. Ron regularly introduces at
the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield. The Band broadcasts on CKCU-FM Community Radio (93.1) at

August 10 Geraldine Classen, from Portage du Fort, is
holding her exhibition "Abandoned in the Pontiac"
at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Hull. Her paintings, into
which she incorporates old photographs, depict empty,
unused buildings, and reveal a style different from that
of earlier work in which she was inspired by her time in
Mexico.Geraldine Classen is a participant in the Pontiac
Artists' Studio Tour and a member of the Board of the
