July 30, 31 and August 1.  The Riverside Jam on the Mississippi, at Carleton Place, Ontario.  Feature acts include:  Hugh Scott, country singer from Luskville, the Mick Armitage Band (Mick Armitage is from Quyon) and Charlie Major from Aylmer. Other acts: Aaron Lines, Ronnie Milsap, Ronnie Hawkins, Charlie Major, Jason McCoy, Jamie Warren, Colin Amy, Carol Baker, Ambush and many others.

August 2-6. Second Annual “Local Artist Week”.  This event forms  Week 5 of the Wakefield Youth Centre’s Summer Program.  It offers youth a look at artists from their very own village, combined with hands-on experience of the particular artist’s speciality.  At the Wakefield Youth Centre.  Registration night was June 7.

August 6-31 “Between Land and Water”
an exhibition of paintings of
Canada’s boreal forest wetlands.  At the Galerie Mackenzie Marcotte.  Vernissage at 7 p.m

Rebecca Mason is fascinated with the theme of the boreal forest wetlands and how they are crucial to the well being of our air, land and water. "My process allows me to plumb the inner depth of my subject matter “Mother Earth”. I focus on her environmental strengths but I am also haunted by the injuries inflicted on her by humankind.”

The Galerie, located  at 26 Sully Road, Wakefield,  is open on weekends 10.00 am. to  5:00 pm., and during the week by appointment or by chance.

August 8.  Wakefield Recreation Center Fundraiser.  Family Fun Day, with music provided  by Jumping Johnny Sansone from New Orleans and local performers (Bull Dog and the Wild Cats;  Lindsay Ferguson;  RiverBend). Face painting.  Starts at 3 p.m.
All proceeds will go towards the
