CHELSEA COMMUNITY EVENTS
September 20. The Gatineau Valley Historical Society opened its
2004-2005 monthly speakers series at the Chelsea Community Centre with a
talk by Allan Richens about the restoration of the historic Rideau
Street Chapel interior, which was relocated to the National Gallery of
Canada.

opened on
September 4
with
authors Brian Doyle and Phil Jenkins on the premises to read from their
works. The owner, Frances Curry, has located her bookstore on the Old
Chelsea Road, opposite Chelsea Town Hall.

Wakefield artists’ studio tour.
This year six new artisans/artists will be joining the
group: Carmella Karijo Rother: (fabric artist); Mike Beedell
(photography, emphasizing the natural world); Kirei
(jeweler: wearable art, using the medium of fired glass and
precious metals); Monelle Vadier (haute couture); Lee
Hutchinson (pottery); Elizabeth Rutlidge (painting in
pastels); Heather MacDonald (sculpture in stone, accented
with other objects from the natural world). Artists who
were in last year’s tour are continuing to participate:

media); Donald Doiron (Damascus steel); Mechthild
