September 26.
Art in the Park
at 100 Promenade du Parc-des-Chutes, Mansfield, Québec from 1-5 pm.

Come and join the artists of the Pontiac Artists’ StudioTour for a day of art, fascinating history and breath-taking scenery at Coulonge Falls.  This event is part of Québec’s “journées de la culture”.  Indulge your creative energies by painting a mural, making paper, painting on glass or printing on styrofoam.  View the work of the artists of the Tour.

Enjoy the the delights of nature and history around you:  Footbridges crossing water chasms; Look-out points; Historic sawmill artifacts; River walk; Wooded walking paths; Souvenirs and snack bar; Interpretive tours; Sightseeing; Hiking; Photography; Shaded picnic areas; Bird Watching; Flora and fauna.

Everybody and all ages are welcome!  Admission to the Falls and to Art in the Park is absolutely free on Sunday, September 26, all day.  In case of rain, Art in the Park will move indoors at the Falls.

To get there:  from Fort Coulonge travel 2 km west on Route 148, turn north and follow the signs for the "Chutes".

The 2004  Pontiac Artists’ Studio Tour took place on June 12-13 and 19-20 (see our entry in the Cultural Bulletin for those dates).  This is another chance to see what these artists of our region accomplish.  Visit their website at www.pontiacartists.com

Until October 31st. “Exposition d’art”,  studio tour organized by a group of artists located on Allumette and Morrisson Islands and in the Waltham area. Participants are: David Rogers (wood sculpture), Francis Giroux (oil, silk, milk churns and quilting). Claudette Spence (oil), Betty Lamarche Ryan (oil and photography), Margaret Lynch Beauchamp (oil and acrylic), Maurice Bissonnette (painting and prints), Donna Crabbe (acrylic, ink drawing, painting on stone, sculpture and interior murals), Annette Craisse (miniatures and handicraft), Myrna Yaniszewski (oil).
Numbered coloured posters guide visitors from one studio to the next.  Maps are available from stores and tourist information booths.  The route also includes the church of St. Alphonse Liguori, “the cathedral of Chapeau”, built in 1988 to be the cathedral of the new diocese of Pembroke and designated a historic monument.
