September 15. HAR
Exhibition by John R.
Barkley, artist originally from Aylmer.
At the Espace Odyssée
(Upper level of the Odyssée Hall), Maison de la Culture de
Gatineau, 855 De la Gappe Boulevard, Gatineau. Opening
of exhibition: 6-8 pm. The exhibition continues until
November 28, and is open to the public on evenings when
there are shows in the Odyssée Hall.
John Barkley says of these oil paintings:
“Har is the creative infinity, one of the aspects of the
Divine. As an experimental painter, I consider my painting
practice a spiritual pursuit. Through the creative process
I am developing a visual vocabulary to explore the
relationships between art, cosmogony and the human psyche
and I hope to challenge conventional wisdom.”

September 16-24. 2004-2005 Two-Play Tour by:

Geordie Productions is a Montreal-based theatre for young
people dedicated to challenging and inspiring audiences with
plays about social issues of interest to today’s youth. This
year marks the 24th anniversary of Geordie's
Two-Play Tour to elementary and high schools throughout
Quebec and the Maritimes.
This season’s elementary school play, Gremlin,
is a musical comedy about self-esteem. Angela is just like
any other kid. She lives in a complicated world, and
sometimes she feels bad about herself. Watch what happens
when Angela’s inner self comes to life in the form of a
mischievous, hilarious gremlin who lives in her mirror.
Angela denies it, fights it, but eventually learns to love
and accept that “gross thing” in the mirror. Winner of the
2001 Betty Lambert Memorial Prize. Recommended for grades
K-7.

in developing countries. A group of Canadian teens takes
action when they discover their favorite brand-name clothes
are made by young people in terrible working conditions in
third world sweatshops. But they learn there is more to the
issue than meets the eye, leading to some difficult
decisions. Recommended for grades 7-11.
