authors Brian Doyle and Phil Jenkins on the premises to read from their
works. The owner, Frances Curry, has located her bookstore on the Old
Chelsea Road, opposite Chelsea Town Hall.
And while we are on the subject of books,
we understand that the Gatineau Municipal Library has printed an English
version of its Guide de l’Usager
(User’s Guide).
1. A new publication on the history of Wakefield:
"Wakefield Revisited" by Norma Geggie.
Published by Castenchel Publications, Chelsea, Québec.
90 pages, with many photographs. Price: $12.50.This is an updated
version of earlier books on Wakefield's
history by the same author.

"The Adventure of Living on the Point" by

story for all ages set in rugged, nineteenth-century New Brunswick.

This book was launched at a signing ceremony at the National Library in
Ottawa on December 17, 2003. It was an occasion on which the works of
seventy-five authors were exhibited and signed.
3.Another
new book by a local author.
"My Summer Vacation with Abendigo" by David Bernier.
The story of a boy's summer friendship with a crow. Set in Wychwood,
Aylmer, it tells how David made the acquaintance of "Abendigo",
introduced him to his family and learned an important lesson about
wildlife. Illustrations and cover design by Leonard Bernier. Price:

In May,
Katharine Fletcher
released
a new edition of her book
Capital Rambles: Exploring the National
Capital Region.
Using Ottawa’s downtown centre as a hub, this insider’s guide
describes twelve adventures along “spokes” fanning out from the
city’s core into a world of wooded hills, sylvan lakes, tumbling
watersheds, and heritage villages.
Routes are detailed as drives by car, but the book
also
describes horseback riding, canoeing, biking, hiking, skiing and
other ways to fully get out in the countryside. The routes include
the Rideau Canal, Mer Bleue, Petrie Island, Cumberland Village, the
Lièvre River, Gatineau River, Ottawa River, Brewery Creek, Aylmer
Road, Gatineau Park, Chats Falls (Quyon), and Mississippi Mills.

"Quebec Off the Beaten Path".
Outaouais author Katherine Fletcher and her husband Eric are
currently working on the 4th editon of this popular
guidebook. The 3rd edition, published by the Globe Pequot
Press in January 2004 is still available. The new edition
will be available this fall. Other books by Katharine
