July 16. Glenwood Plaza Fundraiser at Galeries d'Aylmer.
10 am - 4 pm.
Everyone is invited to enjoy music, food, and other entertainment to help victims of the recent fire at Glenwood Plaza. Admission is $5 and free for children under 12. For more information call APICA at 819-685-1823. Please be generous!

The festival will take place in Ottawa on and around the Festival Plaza on the site of the Ottawa City Hall.

July 14.  Chelsea singer-songwriter Lindsay Ferguson and her band-mates will be on The Black Sheep Stage at the Ottawa Bluesfest to open for the Montreal group The Dears.  At 6:15 pm.  The Black Sheep Stage is on Lisgar Street, Ottawa. üger Brothers, with Ron Moore’s Back 40 Band
.  The Krüger Brothers are described as an outstanding bluegrass/root/folk group from Switzerland by way of North Carolina.  At 9 pm.  The musicians of Back 40 come from both Quebec and Ontario.  Ron Moores resides in Cantley.  He regularly introduces at the Black Sheep Inn. Advanced tickets: $10.00.   $15.00 at the door.

July 19.  150th Anniversary of the Founding of Grand Calumet. Exhibition and sale of miniature paintings, sponsored by the Catholic Women's League (CWL). Until July 24. The Ile-du-Grand-Calumet/Calumet Island is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. Upcoming events include exhibits by the Sureté du Québec (July 18), an Arts and Crafts Sale (July 19-20), a Mass at St. Anne’s Church with Bishop Richard Smith (July 19), an Antique Buggy Display (July 20),  a Bicycle Rally (July 22), an Old Time Costume Dance (July 23), and a St. Anne’s Parish Picnic (July 24), as well as a BBQ and family activities (July 21 & 22).

Until July 31. An exhibition of puppets from the Entre Nous Community Centre is on display at the Aylmer Library. During the winter months a course on puppet making was given at the Entre Nous Community Centre, on Front Street, under the direction of Ilse-Marie Gates, assisted by her husband Noel, and Sylvie Corriveau of the Community Centre staff.  The course was given to two groups of girls, one anglophone and one francophone.  At the end of the course a short puppet play was performed in French before an audience of parents.

Two of the pictures show the puppets on exhibition:  puppets made with cooking spoons by the francophone group and finger puppets made by the anglophone group.  A third picture shows the spoon puppets in performance.

Celebrating History in Bristol.  The commemoration of the founding of Bristol and the celebration of the municipality's 150th birthday includes a variety of events and exhibitions. In July a dinner/dance on the wharf with the Dick Maloney band, and in October an expedition to the highest point of the Bristol Mines property.  Documents are on display at the town hall, including the Council minutes of 1855 and receipts from stores which now belong to the past.
