Black Impressions Noire. An exhibition of  one-colour works by printmaker Raymond Sander-Regier at his print workshop, Underground Impressions Souterraines, 320 Main Street, Shawville.   It offers visitors the chance to see a wide range of printmaking media – from dry point to mezzotint, and more – and appreciate their unique characteristics. Regular hours:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday 10 am to
5 pm; Friday 10 am to 6 pm.

September 8.  Hugh Scott, country singer from Luskville; at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 33, 59 Bancroft, Aylmer on Thursdays. Full meal deal every Thursday at 6 pm.  Cost: $6.00.  Entertainment at 7:30 pm. Everyone welcome.  No membership required.

September 10.  Fundraising Concert in support of women of Alexandra Township, South Africa at the Wakefield Covered Bridge.  2:30 - 5:30 pm.
Featuring:  the Akpokli Drum & Dance Society, led by Kathy Armstrong, together with hornplayers from the local improv unit Radio (later in the evening, Akpokli will perfrom at the Black Sheep Inn);  the Castenchel Choir, whose songs will reflect the African theme of the Concert, closing with the anthem “God Save Africa”;  John Geggie (double bass) and Terry Tufts (guitar). All proceeds will be given by the Wakefield Grannies to the Alex GoGos, a group of 40 women raising AIDS orphans in

September 11. Rupert United Church speaker series. CBC radio personality and writer Mary Cook will be guest speaker.
On
September 18 Peter Gillies, who is closely associated with Wakefield Theatre, will speak about his recent work in Afghanistan. The series began on July 24 with a talk by Senator Landon Pearson on “The Spiritual Rights of the Child”.  
The Church wishes to encourage other residents of the Gatineau Hills to come forward and give talks.  Organizers are Wendy Kempf and Cheryl Chambers.
 

Until October 31. EXPOSITION D’ART is a group of nine artists with home studios on Allumette Island, open to the public from May 1 through October 31.  Their works include painting and sculpture in a variety of media.  Palette signs, with numbers and colours, guide you along the route from one artist to another. Brochures are available throughout the area at various businesses and tourist centers. The group invites you to take the time to enjoy the EXPOSITION D’ART this coming season and suggests that you may just find the piece of art that you have been looking for!
