19 and 20. Marcio Melo will be having an open house at
his studio on Lake Moffat (near Lac des Loups and
Ladysmith) and in the evening of Saturday, August 19,
will hold his annual Bonfire Assemblage.
A bonfire, specially constructed over the preceding
weeks, will be set alight “to produce a fire to
remember, not for its size but for its meaning and
beauty”. The open house continues on each day from noon
to sunset. Marcio Melo has already held his annual corn
roast, this too combined with an open house, on August
12 and 13. This is the eighth year of these
celebrations.

September 10. Photographer Joan Bakker, originally from
Shawville, has an exhibition of some of her work at Café
349, in the town where she was born.
She has just concluded an exhibition on the theme
“Picture the Pontiac” at the Shawville Village Inn, and
has participated in the 2006 Pontiac Artists’ Studio
Tour (mentioned in this on-line Bulletin). From
September 29 to October 1 she will be joining other
Pontiac Artist Association members in the presentation
of a show at
Portage du Fort.
August 5 – September 5. Landscape, an
exhibition of oil paintings by Ruby McEwen, Shawn
McNevin, Michael Sproule and Joan Sutherland, at Galerie McKenzie
Marcotte in Wakefield.
Noting the continuing interest
of artists in landscape the Galerie states that it has
brought together the work of these four artists, all
rooted in the Gatineau Hills and having much in common
with one another.

August 19. The Gatineau Valley Historical Society (GVHS)
will hold its Annual Auction and Flea Market,
starting at 9.00 am in the grounds of St. Stephen's
Church, Old Chelsea. Auctioneer Revel Stewart
will lead the bidding on the antiques, collectibles and
curiosities. Other events include the flea market and
bake sale, a silent auction and the sale of Society
publications.

Espace Pierre-Debain in Aylmer invites artists engaged
in a variety of media to submit entries for an
exhibition to be held at the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer,
120 Principale, Gatineau, in 2007. Deadline for
submissions : September 15, 2006.

- curriculum vitae
- a summary of your artistic career
