The
Wakefield Grannies,
in cooperation with four grannies from the Alexandra Go-Gos
in South Africa,
have been actively engaged both at Toronto and in Wakefield
in sharing their experience and enlisting support for the
struggle against AIDS. On August 16 they continued the
Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers' Gathering, which
began in Toronto, at Chez Eric in Wakefield. The night
before the South African grannies departed a community
gathering was held in Wakefield United Church, with over 200
participants from Wakefield and Ottawa.

Until
September 10. Photographer Joan Bakker, originally from
Shawville, has an exhibition of some of her work at Café
349, in the town where she was born.
She has just concluded an exhibition on the theme
“Picture the Pontiac” at the Shawville Village Inn, and has
participated in the 2006 Pontiac Artists’ Studio Tour
(mentioned in this on-line Bulletin). From September 29
to October 1 she will be joining other Pontiac Artist
Association members in the presentation of a show at
Portage du Fort.
A Call to Artists for Submissions for an Exhibition in
2007.The
Espace Pierre-Debain in Aylmer invites artists engaged
in a variety of media to submit entries for an
exhibition to be held at the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer,
120 Principale, Gatineau, in 2007. Deadline for
submissions : September 15, 2006.
Submissions must include :
- ten recent pieces of work on CD-rom or slides
- curriculum vitae
- a summary of your artistic career
- a brief description of your proposed exhibit
Submissions will be evaluated by a selection committee.
They should be sent to :
