West Quebecers Ready for Election

Gatineau, March 14, 2003 - Premier Landry has announced a provincial election date of April 14, 2003. This means that the latest Provincial budget presented only the day before will only be in place for 33 days. That's also the amount of time that candidates running for office have to run their campaigns and present their platforms to the electorate.

Mr. Richard Henderson, President of the Regional Association of West Quebecers is hoping to see some changes in the provincial electoral map. "We would certainly like to see a party elected who promotes more favourable policies on English Education and who are on side providing access to health services in English. Of the three parties the Liberal party is the only party that has committed itself to sign the Federal - Provincial agreements necessary to insure Federal funding for English Services in the City of Gatineau. The Liberal plan for a charter of patient rights could be an interesting venue as well to guarantee our access to health services in English."

The latest polls show that the Parti Quebecois is still in the lead, followed by the Liberals and then the ADQ.
