return to RAWQ home... The RAWQ ReportWest Quebecer's Golf Tournament a success!The First Annual West Quebec Golf Tournament was held at the beautiful Kingsway Golf Course Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003. The tournament got underway at 11:30 a.m. with the sun shining and the golfers ready to compete for the great prizes up for grabs. The Tournament was organized to assist West Quebecers with their "New Resident's Program". A wonderful time was had by all, the past Executive Director Rob Henderson got the first foursome of Murray MacDonald, Terry Clarke and Joe Hawkes underway, followed by President John Trent with his team. Several more foursomes stepped up to the first hole while acting Executive Director Rick Henderson was the last to tee off with his fellow team-mates, Ernie Gricken, John Biard and Lucy Jacobs. The last were not the least at this event, this final foursome won the championship in a putting contest with the tying team of Paul, Janet and Matthew Hines and Victoria Henderson! The putting contest to raise funds gave our golfers lots of laughs at the end of the day and the Event was capped off with a "super size" chicken dinner beautifully served by the Kingsway staff. President John Trent thanked the over 50 attendees and praised the efforts of the West Quebecer's staff, Rick Henderson and Kathy Teasdale for pulling this event off. Special thanks went to David Gillespie for stepping in and helping out so much in the final week. The golfers walked away with prizes donated by local business and sponsors. No one left this tournament without a prize! Look for this event next year and put your foursome into the running!
