BOARD EXECUTIVE:
Nancy Peppy
President
Nancy was born in Montreal and for the next eighteen years moved around
to different Air Force bases as her father was transferred. She moved
to Aylmer in 1976 when she married a man who has lived his entire life
in Aylmer. Nancy has two sons, both of whom live in West
Quebec. Shaun, her youngest, is well known to RAWQ members and the
community as the Past President of RAWQ.
By profession Nancy is a Human Resources Consultant, both as an
independent consultant and for the City of Ottawa. She has two college
certificates from Algonquin, one in Human Resources Management and the
other in Business Management as well as, a CHRP (Certified Human
Resources Professional, a national professional designation for Human
Resources).
Volunteerism is not new to Nancy. She has been an active volunteer in
hospitals, schools and community groups since she was 14 years of age.
It has always been her belief that it is the citizens of a community
that make a community and therefore it is important to the vitality of
that community to take an active role. This
will be Nancy's fourth year on the Board. She is also a member of the
Steering Committee for the OHSSN and a Board member of ENRICH. As
President of RAWQ she hopes she can contribute to keeping RAWQ the
meaningful and growing organization that it has become

Antonia Papadakou
Vice President
Antonia was born and raised in Quebec. Her
family emigrated from Greece to Canada in the
late 50s and therefore she has an appreciation
for the cultural diversity of this wonderful
province. Now a resident of Aylmer, she is a
proud mother of two children.
Antonia attended Philemon Wright High School and Heritage College before
entering University of Carleton's Journalism Program. She graduated from
Carleton University in 1987, and started a career in journalism and marketing.
Currently she is working with Canadian Parents for French as the Communications
Director. Canadian Parents for French is a non-profit, member-based
group, which advocates for French second language opportunities for youth across
Canada.
As a member of the Regional Association of West-Quebecers, Antonia hopes
to make a contribution toward the English-speaking community. One of her
objectives is to see an increase in membership to the RAWQ, especially from
adults such as herself who have young families
Donna Murphy-Gowling
Treasurer
Although Donna is a relatively new member of the RAWQ board, her family has
lived in Quebec for four generations, and her children will be the fifth.
A bookkeeper by vocation, she is presently pursuing a change of career and hopes to work in the field of
nutritional science in the future.
Donna is married and their decision to raise their two children in West
Quebec also comes with the realization that being members of a linguistic
minority within a larger majority of a French speaking community can
prove to be challenging at times. That is why she feels she has both an
obligation and a responsibility to become an active member in securing their place in Quebec.
"I believe that this can be achieved by being a member of the board of the
West Quebecers. It is a forum where the desire to promote initiatives that
both express and protect our culture while still embracing and respecting
the French speaking community.
I look forward to hopefully contributing represent the membership of the
West Quebecers."
