Regional Association of West Quebecers

André Hurtubise
Executive Director

The Regional Association of West Quebecers (RAWQ) would like to welcome André Hurtubise as their new Executive Director. André was born in Hull and has lived and worked primarily in Quebec and Ontario as well as spending several years in the United States. Last year he returned to Aylmer for what became a short-lived retirement. He has worked in positions including sales, marketing, and management. While living states-side, André designed, planned, and successfully owned and managed a recording studio. His love of music is as great as his love for community involvement and he looks forward to playing his part in enhancing the vitality of the English-speaking community in the Outaouais.

Throughout his life André has been actively involved in a variety of community affairs. He lived in Aylmer from the 70s to the early 80s during which time he was a founding member of the Glenwood Residents’ Association and served as its first president. Always one to strive for community improvement, André was active in restoring Aylmer’s Belmont Park to make it a safe and clean environment for the neighbourhood children. He also participated actively in minor hockey, which resulted in his being named Coach of the Year.

André’s wife, Catherine, retired in 2007 after 25 years as a teacher, and then moved back with him to his beloved Aylmer.  They bought a home and settled into a temporary retirement. André, once again, discovered the need to become an active participant in community affairs and sought out RAWQ initially to help his wife feel more at home in this region.

André is delighted to be selected for the position of Executive Director. The members of the RAWQ wish him all success as he takes on this challenging role.  We are confident that André will help them meet the goals of this organization.
